Dominic Drakes’ new ball burst and Shayne Moseley’s blazing half-century propelled Barbados to an emphatic four-wicket victory over USA Cricket in the latest round of the Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 Cup on Tuesday at the Three Ws Oval.
It was the third win on the trot for Barbados, but more significantly they secured a bonus point after marching to the victory target of 213 within 40 overs, reaching 215 for six in the 36th over.
It sets the stage for what should be an enthralling showdown with Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) Marooners on Thursday afternoon at Kensington Oval. Both Barbados and the CCC have 15 points.
Lefthanders stood tall for Barbados with bat and ball. Drakes, a 20-year-old left-arm fast bowler, took four for 44 while lefthanded batsmen Moseley and Jonathan Carter, each cracked explosive half-centuries at better than a run-a-ball. This was the third half-century of the tournament for the 29-year-old Carter. (MK)
