The disabled community will be catered to in the design of future Government housing projects.
Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment Rural and Urban Development, Chris Sinckler gave this assurance at the handing over of a house at Redman Village, St Thomas, to 62-year-old Edwin Lawrence, who is blind.
Sinckler said already the “appropriate drawings” were being done to accommodate the disabled in the new housing project to be built at Deacon’s Road, adding that those at Country Park Towers that were already at an advanced stage would be revisited.
The minister said that it was necessary for the National Housing Corporation to work with the Urban Development Commission and the Rural Development Commission (RDC) from the start, so that more money would not have to be spent on adjustments. (CT)
