Don’t believe everything you hear. Cricket West Indies director Conde Riley revealed the board is no closer to finding a new head coach than when it first started, refuting recent rumours that current fielding coach Nic Pothas has been shortlisted for the job.
Riley categorically denied the reports in a telephone interview with SUNSPORTS after popular sports broadcast Mason and Guest claimed Pothas and former Test batsman Floyd Reifer are the frontrunners to replace Stuart Law.
“It is uncalled for, wicked and inappropriate for someone to come out publicly and say that this is the position with the new coach without even speaking to anyone on the board or the committee when we are still in discussions,” said Riley, who serves as the CWI’s chairman of human resources.
“This nonsense has to stop. I don’t know where these reports are coming from because I can assure you that nothing has been decided presently where a new head coach is concerned as we haven’t been given any opportunity to sit down and even go through candidates. (JM)
