DESPITE an impressive five-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Ryan Hinds, ESAF Pickwick compiled a healthy 273 all out off 78 overs after winning the toss against ICBL Empire yesterday.Hinds took five for 85 but this was matched by a half-century from opener Clint St Hill that put the visitors on course for a sizeable total.Hinds sent down 26 overs, 16 of them consecutively in a spell that spanned two hours.It was a critical period of play in which Hinds took four for 47 to prevent a total run feast after Pickwick had gone to tea at 146 for three.St Hill and George Harris gave Pickwick an excellent start in an opening stand of 81. Harris struck eight boundaries in his 45 off 77 balls in 93 minutes.St Hill was involved in a fruitful partnership of 55 for the third wicket with Kyle Hope (33).Jared Bernadin removed St Hill for 65, including 12 boundaries.Rondelle Yearwood (38) and Jared Gilkes (34) then put on 56 for the fifth wicket before Hinds removed both and sent back Jamar Yearwood in a productive over in which three wickets tumbled with the score on 226.
