The National Union of Public Workers is concerned about the lack of details surrounding the retrenchment of public officers.
A statement from the union tonight noted that officials are requesting an urgent meeting with the Ministry of Civil Service to properly negotiate all matters relating to the proposed retrenchment. The union indicated that a letter has already been written to the Ministry of the Civil Service informing of the request.
In the Press statement, the union insisted that as the leading public sector union, a process must be followed.
“Additionally, we are insisting that an agreement was made in good faith with the NUPW that all temporary officers with three or more years of service would be appointed and this process was started and should be completed,” noted the statement.
The union expressed its concern about the lack of details regarding “this very sensitive issue”. (CM/PR)
