Students at the controversial Washington University of Barbados are claiming they are being denied basic human rights.
Two days after chief executive officer Gopi Venkat Rao, 42, was charged and remanded to HMP Dodds on three counts of fraud, students at the offshore medical university housed at the Casa Grande hotel in Oldbury, St Philip, said they were in dire straits.
They said they had been denied the right to education, food and basic utilities essential for day to day living.
When THE NATION visited the hotel on Wednesday morning, students vented their frustrations and appealed for urgent help, before the news team was asked to leave by hotel management. (DB)
