‘Let us know about IDB’

Opposition?Member of Parliament Kerrie Symmonds has accused the Government of withholding all the details of its fiscal consolidation programme with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
Speaking at a Barbados Labour Party (BLP) mass meeting at Heroes Square, The City, on Sunday night, Symmonds said that Barbados had gone “cap in hand to the IDB?begging for a way out”.
He told the party faithful that when he searched the website for components on the programme, there was information on the establishment of the Central Revenue Authority, the need to preserve the value added tax rate at 17.5 per cent and to increase the excise tax on gasoline.
Symmonds?said he was concerned that the document on the website referred to an Annex 5 that outlined the specific guidelines and timelines for the programme that must be adhered to by the Government of Barbados.
