UPDATE: Schoolboy stabbed in The City

The hustle and bustle of The City was brought to a halt earlier today when a schoolboy was stabbed in his abdomen.

According to an eyewitness Neil Luke, who was standing outside of a barber shop in Tudor Street when the stabbing occurred, the incident took place around minutes to 5.

“Every evening, around 3 o’clock, a bunch of schoolchildren and youngsters does be liming out here,” said Luke. “But this evening I heard a girl and a boy say ‘look he there’ and a group of children run behind the boy.”

Luke said that the boy attempted to board a van, but it had started to move off and he fell, and a group of children rushed to him. One of the boys in the group stabbed him.

Luke went on to say that the stabbing occurred in front of House of Deals store and three girls tended to the schoolboy.

He added that he was shocked that it took 15 minutes for police to arrive on the scene when Central Police Station was just a few meters away from where the stabbing occurred.

The stabbing victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. (SB)
