Northern stars shine bright

Northern stars were onstage as the first Spirit Of The Nation Talent Show for 2013 got off to a rousing start at The Alleyne School last Saturday night.
The Northern Zone talent show under the name Northern Explosion attracted performers from the north and west of the island, specifically from the parishes of St Lucy, St Peter, St James, and the show’s host parish St Andrew.
Competitors brought their “A” game to the stage but only a few shone bright enough in the judges’ eyes to be awarded first place for their respective parishes.
Acts like Ricardo Reid from St James with his song The Future Of Kaiso, the Alleyne School Pop Band with Bridgetown Market, Pedro Cumberbatch from St Lucy with his hilarious drama piece What Ain’t Catch Yuh Ain’t Pass Yuh, and Desiree Benn and LaShea Samuel from St Peter with their duet Something Greater stood out.
The winners will advance to the parish talent segment slated for later this month. (SM)
