CP U-14 celebrate

Coleridge and Parry (CP) can tick another box on their sports CV after winning their first Coca-Cola Barbados Secondary Schools Under-14 football championship with a 2-1 victory over The St Michael School (SMS) at the Usain Bolt Complex on Monday.

Following a poor 2017 season and a shaky start to 2018, CP were not one of the favourites to lift the coveted football crown.

After shocking one of the favourites, St Leonard’s Boys’, through penalty kicks in the semi-finals, even fate seemed to be intervening with the threat of Hurricane Kirt delaying the finals.

The size and speed of SMS also intimidated CP from early yesterday with the likes of Under-13 100-metre champion Jaquon Pilgrim and Under-15 sprinter Josiah Parris terrorising for SMS, who had defeated Queen’s College 2-1 in their semi-final clash. (KB)
