THE BARBADOS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (BCA) has turned to its legal counsel to provide guidance on if it should lodge a complaint over the West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) ruling on the semi-finalists of the Regional Super50 Competition.
In branding the WICB’s decision as “ludicrous”, BCA first vice-president Conde Riley revealed yesterday that Queen’s Counsel Randall Belgrave had been retained to pursue the matter after Barbados failed to advance to the last four following a series of dramatic events on Sunday.
Both Barbados and Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) finished the preliminaries with ten points from two wins, but the latter qualified for the semi-finals on account of winning the head-to-clash between the two teams earlier in the tournament.
In making a case for Barbados, Riley argued that it was common in limited-overs tournaments for net run-rate to take precedent to decide a tie-breaker.
