Farmer arrested over electrocution

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – A poultry farmer in eastern Guyana has been arrested in the death of a 15-year-old boy killed by the farm’s electric fence.Authorities are investigating the electrocution of the teen, who leaned on the fence during a break in a soccer game.It is illegal in the South American country to electrify a fence without permission from authorities. Police say farmer Gafton Wright didn’t have permission.Police Superintendent John Sauers says Wright was detained yesterday. Chief Henry Greene says he will likely be charged with manslaughter.Eight years ago, another Guyanese farmer faced a possible sentence of 15 years in prison for a similar death but instead received two years probation.
