BWA working to restore water supply

In press release issued this evening the BWA said it experienced power outages at a number of its pumping stations across the island.

Since then they have addressed the low levels at the Rising Sun Reservoir and water is gradually being restored to customers in Newton, Durants, Lodge Road, Pilgrim Road, Parish Land, Coverley, Kingsland and surrounding districts in Christ Church. The Bowmanston Pumping Station was shutdown overnight because of turbidity or discoloured water issues however pumping has resumed at this station  

The statement explained, “potable generators were deployed to assist however The Barbados Light & Power worked in tandem with the Authority and power was restored in a timely manner. The pumping stations are back online and water will be gradually restored to the affected areas.”

The BWA also assured that both of the Sewage Treatment Plants at Bridgetown and the South Coast along with all the Lift Stations are fully operational and the Sluice Gate is open and flowing freely. (KB)
