$2m lift for Inner Basin

More than $2 million has been spent to install potable water and electrical outlets on either side of the Inner Basin of the Careenage  for the use of yachts and other vessels.
Additionally, buoys have been installed to facilitate the berthing of up to 40 vessels.
This work, which took place over the past  six months, was done to improve the capacity of the Inner Basin to accommodate the participants in the Panerai Transat Classic which ended in  Barbados recently.
Minister of International Transport George Hutson yesterday toured some of the 11 yachts in the Inner Basin and said Government had been trying to place more emphasis on developing yachting as a niche market in the  tourism product. (LK)
