Bustling Dowrich guides Select X1 to victory

A?QUICK-FIRE?83 by wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich and half-centuries from opener Omar Phillips and captain?Kenroy Williams allowed a Barbados Select XI?to eke out  a one-wicket win over the Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre (HPC) in the second two-day one-innings practice match which ended at the Windward Club, Lucas Street, St Philip, yesterday.
Dowrich smashed five fours and four sixes in his free-scoring 70-ball knock in 97 minutes. Batting at No.9, Dowrich shared an eighth-wicket stand of 140 runs  with Williams, who made 54 off 65 balls with four fours and a six.
They linked up after the Select XI  had slumped to 141 for seven.
Earlier, Phillips, back in Barbados after a stint in England this year, batted cautiously for 58 off 142 balls in 190 minutes. He struck five fours.
On Tuesday’s first day, Marlon Barclay top-scored for HPC with 82 off 178 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes in 232 minutes at the crease.
