“To me, it don’t feel like he gone . . . . ” Those were the tearful words of Makita Broome-Chase on Monday as she agonised over the loss of her only son, 16-year-old Shamar Chase.
He died on the spot Sunday night after the bicycle he was riding collided with a car near the corner of Rock Hall and Oldbury, St Philip.
Surrounded by family and friends at her Packers, Christ Church home, Broome-Chase said: “His grandmother call me and say somebody tell she Shamar just get lick down. So I just bust out crying and call his father to come and take me up the road.
“When we get up there, I ain’t even wait until the car stop. I just jump out the car and he was just there lying down cover over. That was my only son. To me it don’t feel like he gone . . . . I sitting down waiting for him, because I don’t feel that he gone yet,” she said, surrounded by relatives and friends trying to console her.
