Police have charged two St Michael men with the robbery of Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner on October 12.
Jermaine Julian Worrell, 20, of Hinds Hill, Cave Hill, and Renico Jamal Taylor, 19, of Division Drive, Eden Lodge, were arrested and charged last night with the offence that occurred in the SuperCentre Warrens supermarket car park.
The 50-year-old Sandiford-Garner, who is also Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health, said she had her BlackBerry stolen after fighting off a masked, knife-wielding attacker. She had been sitting in her parked vehicle talking to a colleague on the cellphone.
Taylor is also facing a separate charge of theft of another cellphone. Both men are to appear in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court tomorrow. (PR/BW)
