Yesterday was the last day of the mid-term school break and, as has been happening all week, children were seen accompanying their parents to town as they went about their business shopping, running errands, keeping appointments and paying bills.
All this running around can take a toll on the adults, far less the young ones. Plus, children find these chores, as necessary as they may be, quite boring and tend to get restless.
Taking all that into consideration, this mum decided to reward her daughter’s good behaviour with a scoop of ice cream, giving no thought to herself.
But mummy got the bigger reward and it was twice as nice – a spoonful of ice cream sprinkled with generous doses of love and care. (DR)
