WHILE THE NUMBER of repeat offenders at Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds is down, new and young criminals are filling the cells.
This has become a major concern for the prison’s management, Superintendent John Nurse told a Press conference yesterday.
“We have to be concerned when a lot of our young people are coming in. And they are coming into prison and have to spend five or more years, and not contributing positively to society,” Nurse said.
Prison psychologist Sean Pilgrim also pointed out that there was a moderate increase in the number of adolescents between the ages of 17 and 18. (MB)
