Teachers need more ‘training’

Primary school principals need to return to the classroom to get better equipped for their jobs.
That’s the view of president of the Association of Public Primary School Principals, Ivan Clarke, who says he wants to see heads get training in leadership.
“We start as senior teachers then move on to principals, but we do not have the requisite training for the job,” Clarke told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday at the association’s annual general conference at Accra Beach Hotel, Rockley, Christ Church.
“Sometimes we learn on the job, which is not bad, but that must be supported with theory,” he added.
