Trees are for life

Today is World Environment Day.
And earlier this week the students of Arthur Smith Primary School planted at tree to mark the day. Two trees were planted – a carambola tree and a guava tree – under the theme For The Life Of SIDS (small island developing states) – Plant A Tree.
According to Cherice Gibson, executive director of the Future Centre Trust, Arthur Smith was one of 22 schools that planted trees.
“The initiative is to promote food security and to help children understand the value of trees,” she said. (RL)
