Outgoing British High Commissioner Paul Brummell and his wife Adriana said goodbye to Barbados and a host of friends made during the High Commissioner’s four-year stint in the region, at a reception on the eve of the couple’s departure last week.
There was a lot of laughter at the party hosted at the official residence Ben Mar with Brummell giving guests more than a sample of his wit. He talked about “Jonesing”, gave examples of the humour he found in language here in Barbados and respectfully joked about peculiar place names he noticed as he traversed the region on official business.
“I came here a single man. I am leaving with my wife Adriana whom I met here and baby George,” he quipped. They were both at his side, baby George fast asleep in his stroller after earlier socializing with guests fawning over him.
Among the invitees were former colleagues from PAHO where Adriana was sub-regional advisor on medicines and health technologies for the Caribbean until her marriage.
