Another set of workers has been severed from their jobs.
B&B Distribution, a subsidiary of beverage conglomerate Banks Holding Limited (BHL), said it has been forced to lay off 16 of its 220 employees as the company restructured to better face the challenges of the current environment.
Richard Cozier, chief executive officer of BHL, said yesterday the company had been negotiating with the workers’ representative, the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), for the past two months about restructuring of the drink manufacturer and the implications those actions would have on the company’s workers.
He explained that the workers affected had received severance packages that included company-funded retraining of the affected workers in order for them to find new jobs. (GE)
