Holness still JLP leader

KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – After weeks of campaigning, Andrew Holness was declared winner of the opposition Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) leadership election.
That was the outcome of today’s race that saw Holness, 41, being challenged by 61-year-old Audley Shaw, a long-standing member of the party.
When the votes were counted this afternoon, it was revealed that Holness tallied 2 704 votes to Shaw’s 2 012.
The voting process was overseen by the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) and got underway this morning with reports of a high voter turnout.
