THE OFFICE of the District “A” Magistrates’ Courts, which receives fines and other payments, is closing its doors at noon every day until further notice.A Government Information Service release said the early closure was due to poor ventilation.Sources told the SATURDAY SUN that for months workers in the office complained of unbearable heat because the air conditionings units were not functioning.A “CLOSED” sign and a notice informing the public of the situation went up at noon on Wednesday. New units have been acquired but the office is awaiting installation by Government Electrical Engineering Department, the sources said.Efforts to reach Chief Electrical Officer George King to find out how soon the air conditioning units would be installed were futile.
