FISH VENDORS OF the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex went back to school yesterday, donning school uniforms of both secondary and primary schools across the island. The vendors, who celebrated Fisherman’s Day in a unique way, impressed their customers with their unusual appearance. With book bags positioned on their backs, ribbons, baubles and bows in their neatly combed hair, socks pulled up and polished shoes, the vendors carried out their daily activities with a smile. Some of the schools represented were Harrison College, Ellerslie, Springer Memorial, St Leonard’s Boys’ and Grantley Adams Memorial, just to name a few. Fish vendor Sharon Bellamy-Johnson told the MIDWEEK NATION that the fisherfolk wore the uniforms of the school they attended.“This was an idea that everybody came up with. We wanted to celebrate in a unique way this year,” said Bellamy-Johnson, who represented Parkinson Memorial. (AH)
