The passion, struggle, accomplishments and life of the great South African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela were celebrated in song, dance and dress when the Warrens Primary School on Mapp Hill, St Michael, held its annual black history event on Saturday.
Dubbed Black History – A Tribute To Mandela, more than over 75 children outfitted in African dress performed for their teachers, parents and invited guests poems such as Black Is Beautiful and A Tribute To Black.
Dancin’ Africa also performed while Axecapoeria Of Barbados gave a martial arts demonstration with the Warrens’ Dancers displaying their rhythmic talents.
Parents and guardians were not outdone as they were able to borrow genuine African outfits on the spot to be part of the modelling section.
