It is that time of the year when the cry goes out for cotton pickers.
Delores Powlett is ever willing to answer the call, travelling from St Michael daily to pick cotton at Fairfield Plantation, St Lucy.
“I saw the advertisement in the Nation newspaper and I called the telephone number and here I am picking cotton, which I enjoy,” she said. “And I am asking those persons who lime everyday on the block, to come and pick some cotton and make some money.”
Powlett, who is also a preacher, praised God for the strength to work in the cotton field in spite of some work hazards such as cow itch which she encountered yesterday.
