DEAR CHRISTINE: Unsure of travel offer

Dear Christine,
I need your advice.
I have been friendly with a young man for the past several years. Please do not get me wrong; we are not in a sexual relationship, just good friends who go out together sometimes. There is no intimacy whatsoever.
The thing is that over the years there was a period when we stopped communicating. Well, he got married and he and his wife are the proud parents of three children – the oldest of which is now eight years old and the youngest, one year.
When we reconnected, the last child had not yet been born.
I have met his wife on a few occasions and she seems to be a rather nice woman. From all [indications], they seem to be quite happy.
My friend travels almost every month because of the nature of his job, and his wife also does at times.
I know our relationship is harmless, but here is where I have a little concern: he has asked me to accompany him on one of his trips. He said we will sleep in different rooms and that he would just like to offer me the chance to see somewhere else for a change.
Do you think I should accept his offer?
– H.P.
Dear H.P.,
I can see that you are respectful of each other and that you maintain a good, clean relationship, but travelling abroad with him is another matter. I am not saying that things will happen, but they can.
Furthermore, you run the risk of someone seeing you travelling together and coming to the wrong conclusion.
Avoid the very appearance of evil. Tell your friend it’s not a good idea unless his wife and even his children are accompanying him also.
– CHRISTINE
