Way around the jams

IT’S EARLY?DAYS yet, but the hope is that the new Jackson Roundabout (above) will bring some relief to traffic exiting Warrens Industrial Park.
The roundabout, which is near One Accord Plaza, is intended to eliminate the need to wait for some kind-hearted motorist to ease those trying to get from the park onto the main road, or those going into the park.  
The regulations will be the same as other existing roundabouts where drivers will give way to traffic on their right.
To ensure an even greater reduction in congestion in the area, drivers exiting CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank and the new commercial building, Baobab Towers, between the Everton Weekes roundabout and Jackson will have to turn left and go to the roundabout before proceeding south, should that be their destination.
In a similar manner, when entering from Jackson in the north, motorists will go to the Everton Weekes Roundabout and return, as no right turns will be permitted.
According to Mike Williams, communications consultant for C.O. Williams Construction which is undertaking The Greater Warrens Traffic Safety Improvement Project, this should help put an end to the traffic nightmare motorists have had to endure through the years. (SP)
