Beware of false prophets!
Prophet Harold Broomes of Help Bless Ministries gave this advice to the congregation during a recent service at the Montrose, Christ Church sanctuary.
Admonishing them “to test the spirits and see if they be of God”, he said that the man (preacher) and the message (the Word of God) must always line up.
In a short sermon at one of the church’s Friday night services, he warned congregants to keep their purses shut whenever they visited some places.
He said the Gospel was to be preached as freely as it was given and that money given “in order to receive a word, healing or deliverance from God” was inappropriate.
Many people were being hurt badly by so-called “prophets”, he said, who took huge sums from desperate people, women especially, but could in no way help them.
“The Bible says freely give, freely receive and God is a God all by himself. Beware of false prophets who know how to get things done by signs and wonders,” he further warned.
“Be careful. Prove all things and refuse to give money to anyone who demands money from you for anything relating to God. There is no need to go into any line and pay any amount of money to get anything,” Broomes added.
“These false prophets have ways of getting things done before your eyes to make you believe them. Many times you are out of money before you know it.”
Broomes said that he was not preaching against the paying of tithes to one’s church or the offerings given to one’s church or any other church for that matter, but he wanted to make it clear that just as the Word said there would be false prophets, there were false prophets in the world today and had been for a long time.
