Truck pins man to house

The quiet?afternoon atmosphere of rural Berlin Road in Woodbourne, St Philip, was shattered when news spread that Erwin Nicholls of French Village, St Peter, had lost his life in a freak accident.
Nicholls, in his 40s, died after being squeezed between a house and a truck during an operation involving the raising of a skip.
Resident of the house, Jason Daniel, did not see the accident developing but when he realised what had happened switched off the truck.
“The truck leaned and dropped to the house, resting on it,” Daniel explained. “He [Nicholls] was between the truck and the house.”
The house, truck and the skip are owned by one family.
Daniel said that Nicholls started to work with the liquid and solid waste company only last Tuesday.
“I knew him for some time. He was always a jovial fellow and dedicated to his work. He would come to work about 4 a.m. and get the job done,” Daniel remarked.
 Dozens of curious onlookers were on hand when personnel from the Barbados Fire Service, the Ambulance Service and the Royal Barbados Police Force visited the scene around 1 p.m.
