THE?LAND?TAX?Department is owed $50 million over the last two years and Commissioner Wayne Forde has pledged to crack down on some of the delinquent property owners.
The department has already served notice via the print media on 39 properties that are now being advertised for sale.
Forde said: “This is clearly a last resort but one the department has been forced to resort to.
I really do have reservations with the manner in which some people are managing their responsibilities in relation to land taxes.
“The Land Tax Department will do whatever is necessary under the provisions granted by the Land Tax Act Cap. 78 A, to recover the substantial monies owed. Every sector has been compliant and every sector has been owed,” he said.
