Part of pension going to care

GOVERNMENT?IS?MOVING?forward with plans to pull a portion of the pension of elderly people in private nursing homes at the state’s expense.
Minister of Health Donville Inniss told the MIDWEEK?NATION that bold decisions had to be made concerning health care of the elderly.
 “Putting it simply, I don’t see why individuals who are receiving pensions, regardless of the amount, and are now living in our elderly care facilities should continue to have their families receive all [that pension] and the state receives none.  
“I’ve therefore taken a decision as Minister of Health that any individuals going into any private nursing homes through the assistance of the state should commit to having some of their pensions paid toward the nursing homes to assist in their care,” Inniss explained.
