A joint operation on land and sea, led by the Drug Squad and assisted by members of the RSS, and Barbados Coast Guard on Thursday 3rd October 2011, resulted in the seizure of two vessels, a quantity of illegal drugs and seven persons being detained.
A Guyanese cargo vessel was seized at the Bridgetown Port and a Barbadian fishing vessel was intercepted off Sandy Beach, Christ Church within the territorial waters of Barbados. 62.5 kgs of cocaine and 183.5 kgs of cannabis were seized. At present two Barbadian nationals and five Guyanese nationals are currently assisting with this investigation.
