Insurance and financial advisors have a role to play in ensuring the sustainability of Barbados’ economy, says Barbados Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (BARAIFA) president Wynthrop Catwell.
Addressing a recent seminar entitled Blast Off 2013: Determination To Achieve, he said the association’s members wanted to assist in developing the lives of individuals.
“It is simply our determination to achieve not for ourselves alone but to achieve for our clients . . . the standard of lifestyle that affords them the opportunity to live their lives in meaningful comfort and to ensure that they can feed, clothe, shelter and educate their families,” he said during the event at The Savannah Beach Hotel.
Catwell said BARAIFA would support efforts to ensure that Barbados earns and maintains its “rightful place” in the region and the world despite the challenges resulting from the global economic turbulence.
“Members of the Barbados Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors have a very pivotal role to play in that respect.
“We will not leave it to the political directorate alone. We will not leave it to the private sector alone. We will make our contribution with events like this where we come together and we learn the skills and the techniques that are required so that we can encourage persons to contribute to the development and sustainability of our economy,” he said.
During the seminar participants heard presentations on a range of topics including Achieving Success Through Value Added Service and Coping With The Stressors Of High Performance. (NB)
