The battle?for the Barbados Karting Association’s Frutee 2013 champion driver title is slated to begin tomorrow at the Bushy Park Racing Circuit at 10 a.m.
Tremaine Forde-Catwell will be seeking to make a successful start of defending his title in the Surf Shak-sponsored opening round to be contested in a clockwise direction.
Catwell was lucky to emerge as champion at the end of last season after an engine problem threatened to derail him when the title was almost in his grasp.
However, Christian Hinds, also a former champion driver, did not seem to have the answer for him all year, except for the final two rounds of the season.
The battle between them for supremacy was expected to be renewed this year since both talented drivers were looking to start off on a winning note in the 310 Premier Class.
However, though these two were the leading pair in the class last year, Javani Smith and Nicholas Gill were not far off.
The 270 Class has proven to be the most competitive with four young drivers – Joshua Maloney, Zane Maloney, Saviola Thomas and Joshua Parris – in contention for top honours.
Zane Maloney won the class and Joshua Maloney placed second so an exciting battle in the 270 Yamaha Sportsman Class is sure to turn heads once again. (PR/EZS)
