KAREN BEST has vacated her post as president of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT).
Best, who was appointed Deputy Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education effective this month, resigned as the union’s head yesterday.
She had held the union post since 2003, when Undene Whittaker resigned to run for elective politics.
Deputy president of the BUT, Pedro Shepherd, will act as president for the next 21 days, after which a by-election will be called.
