Britain’s Princess Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, interacted with a number of special needs children yesterday when she visited the Albert C. Graham Development Centre.
The tour came hours before she and her husband, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, concluded a whirlwind visit to Barbados – part of celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Coordinator of the centre, Annil Osolo, gave the Royal visitor an overview of the services offered, which include developmental paediatrics, medical services for young adults, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, speech and language therapy, audiology and social work.
“Early stimulation day care services are offered to children from three months to six years of age,” she reported. “Our Education Unit caters to children from six years to 16 years, while the workshop provides training in functional mathematics and English, woodwork, arts and craft, computer and social skills to young adults 16 to 20 years of age.”
