The price tag for the visit by the Earl and Countess of Wessex now stands at $800 000.
That figure includes the cost of repairs to Government House, the sprucing up of Parliament, Prince Cave Hall and Ilaro Court as well as the debushing and resurfacing of roads.
Coordinator of the two-day visit, Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo gave the figure yesterday, a week after Government got approval for more than $530 000 for the state visit which is part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
Last week Prime Minister Freundel Stuart told the House of Assembly that $254 445 was needed to pay for the activities being coordinated by the Cabinet Office, including two state functions, while Minister of Transport and Works John Boyce explained that $276 198 was being spent on renovating Government House to prepare for the Royal visit.
