The Welfare Department is to be renamed the Department of Social Services in a few weeks.
This was revealed by Steve Blackett, Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Community Development as he spoke in the House of Assembly today on the 2013-2014 Estimates of Income and Expenditure.
Blackett said the renaming was part of the overall restructuring plan for the Welfare Department and plans to remove some of the stigma associated with the delivery of state assistance to the most vulnerable in society. (GE)
