ATTORNEY GENERAL Adriel Brathwaite has urged developed countries to cease the practice of tying much-needed aid to the incomes of Caribbean nations.
It was that aid, said the minister who has responsibility for the island’s emergency management, which sometimes helped regional countries through natural disasters.
The Attorney General was delivering the opening remarks as the technical advisory committee of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) convened its fifth meeting at the Radisson Aquatica yesterday.
“I do want to ask our international partners not to use our developmental state in some parts of the region as a reason for withdrawing aid from us,” the Attorney General said, while acknowledging “the partners to our development of the region”.
