IN THE CURRENT economic crisis in which employees are being called upon to do more, competency-based training is a valuable tool which can be used to improve efficiency in the workplace.
And liaison officer at the Competency Based Training Fund (CBTF) Management Unit, Andrea Austin, has revealed that the CBTF and the Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) have teamed up to assist local businesses in retraining and retooling their workforce through competency-based training.
Speaking to the media yesterday during a competency-based training fund workshop at the BCCI’s Deighton Road, St Michael headquarters, Austin said it was especially relevant as more jobs are lost.
“Competency-based training is definitely relevant in our current economic climate where you have employees doing more than just their share of work.
