MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones is urging principals to bring some heart to the job.
Jones was speaking at the opening of a two-day forum at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre for education stakeholders to discuss the way forward for the sector.
He urged the principals, in particular, to show a bit more empathy in cases where students are not behaving or performing at the level they should.
Jones charged the school leaders to make an effort to get to the root of the problems, and not be too quick to write students off or suspend them. He also encouraged student leaders to speak up to principals on the issues that have been bothering them over time, but to do so respectfully. (YB)
