The United States Embassy is responding to security concerns in the region with a consultation series on community policing.
Chuck Wexler, PhD, an experienced criminologist and executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, started the series in Grenada yesterday.
He will be in Barbados today before going on to St Lucia and St Kitts-Nevis.
He will meet with police and prison officials, judges, lawyers and civil society stakeholders in the tourism industry and business sector.
Wexler’s discussions will look at community policing from both a law enforcement perspective and a community perspective.
Issues such as effective deployment of police personnel and the critical role community stakeholders can play to make community policing effective will be examined.
Today’s session will be held at the embassy’s headquarters, Wildey. (PR)
