HAVANA – Cuba’s President Raul Castro has held meetings with Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, who is on an official to Cuba.
After the formal ceremony, the two leaders exchanged views on the excellent state of bilateral relations, and the celebration tomorrow of the Third Cuba-Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministerial Meeting.
They also analysed regional and international issues, according a to Cuban television report.
Cuba’s Vice-President Esteban Lazo and Foreign Minister Foreign Bruno Rodriguez also attended the meeting.
Skerrit, who arrived here on Tuesday was welcomed at Jose Marti International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra.
“This visit will foster links between the two nations, and express once more Dominica’s support for Cuba,” Skerrit said.
The CARICOM meeting, to take place today will evaluate Havana’s relations with the bloc’s 15 member countries and focus on the situation in Haiti since the devastating January 12 earthquake in Port-au-Prince.
Skerrit is being accompanied by the minister of national security, immigration and labour, Charles Savarin, and the minister of information and telecommunication, Ambrose George. (CMC)
