Upbeat at new school

The Blackman Gollop Primary School officially opened its doors for classes yesterday and welcomed its first batch of students.
With an enrolment of 380 students, the Staple Grove, Christ Church facility is an amalgamation of the now vacant South District and St David’s primary schools.
Principal Joycelin Brewster said parents were cooperative and children and teachers were eager to enter the new facility and see what it had to offer.
“Everybody is upbeat; everybody wants this amalgamation to work. The children are looking forward to being in their own classrooms, having space, a playing field and the programmes that we are going to put in place. We are all excited and looking forward to what the years hold for us,” Brewster said.
