Ten injured in accident

Ten people were injured when two vehicles collided head on at Dodds, St Phillip early this morning.

Reports indicate the van was transporting people home from work while the occupants of the car were returning from an event when the vehicles collided about 1 a.m.

Five ambulances were dispatched, four from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and one from the Barbados Defence Force, along with two rescue tenders from the Fire Service. Three people were treated at the scene and seven were transported to hospital including a seriously injured female.

The incident was treated as a mass casualty. Police also issued a notice for traffic to divert until the resulting oil spill on the road was cleared up. (STARCOM NETWORK)
