Young Dems in rebuilding

AS the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) starts its rebuilding effort after its massive defeat at the May 24 poll, a number of the party’s Young Democrats will be part of the process.

President Curtis Cave, who demits office next month, told the DAILY NATION via telephone yesterday that it was imperative that they be involved if the party is to rise from the ashes and offer itself as an alternative to the masses.

Apart from articulating the party’s views over the next few years, he said that a number of young people, those between the ages of 16 and 40, will be vying for all of the positions on the party’s executive except president, as well as seeking to serve on the general council. The elections take place this month during the DLP’s annual conference.

Cave also noted that in addition to Young Democrats who are already chairing a few of the branches, there were others who expressed interest in being candidates and were prepared to start working from now, once they got the nod. (GBM)
