Three injured in smash-up

A YOUNG ST THOMAS WOMAN remains in intensive care after an accident involving a car and a van on Friday.
The accident occurred about 4:20 p.m. at the Dayrells Road/Old Navy Road junction. Deniece Ayung, 17, of Millennium Heights, St Thomas, was the driver of the car. She was unresponsive at the scene and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance where she underwent surgery.
The van was driven by Nicholas Rose, 30, of Rockley New Road, Christ Church. He complained of pains to his shoulder and neck.
His passenger Devon Straughn, 33, of Haynesville, St James, suffered a cut to the head and complained of pains about the body. They were both taken to the QEH by ambulance.
The accident caused traffic to be diverted. (RL)
